We were founded in 1945 by two Springfield, Ill., teachers who wanted to provide quality, affordable auto insurance to teachers. Since then we have grown from an auto insurance company into the largest multiline insurance company focusing on America’s educators.
We are also proud to share our name with the father of the American public education system, Horace Mann. He believed every child should receive a basic education and worked hard to provide new opportunities for millions of children. We share his work ethic and make it our mission to serve the nation’s educators and their families by providing quality, affordable insurance and financial products.
We believe agents are our biggest asset because they understand the needs of educators as many are former educators themselves. They know what educators need to succeed and dedicate their time to make sure it happens. Agents are also active in their local school districts and spend their free time to helping those who dedicate their lives to children.
Our employees are also dedicated to serving our educator clients, supporting our agents and giving back to the community. They hold positions in actuarial, claims, customer service, information technology, marketing and other departments with an overall mission to serve educators.
