We were founded in 1945 by two Springfield, Ill. teachers who saw a need for quality, affordable auto insurance for educators. Originally called Illinois Education Association Mutual Insurance Company, we soon changed our name to honor the father of the American public education system, Horace Mann.
Today, Horace Mann is the largest national multiline insurance company focusing on educators’ financial needs with more than $7 billion in assets.* Horace Mann offers auto and home insurance, retirement annuities, life insurance and other financial solutions to educators and their families. We’ve been providing 403(b) tax-deferred annuities to educators for more than 50 years.
Horace Mann is also experienced at helping school administrators and business officials help their employees through a variety of products, benefits, administration services and recognition programs. Our agents and dedicated school payroll services staff provide personal service to more than 5,000 school districts in the United States.
